Emphasis Program on Silica in Engineered Stone (2023)— Launched on September 22, 2023, this program focused on enhancing enforcement and providing compliance assistance to protect workers in the engineered stone fabrication and installation industries. Initial finding were released in 2024 in an OSHA Hazard Analysis.
OSHA Inspection Procedures for the Respirable Crystalline Silica Standards (2020) — On June 25, 2020, OSHA issued a Directive (CPL 02-02-080) that established inspection procedures and enforcement policies for the Respirable Crystalline Silica Standards (29 CFR § 1910.1053 and 29 CFR § 1926.1153). This instruction established OSHA’s field inspection and enforcement procedures designed to ensure uniformity when addressing respirable crystalline silica exposures in the workplace.
OSHA National Emphasis Program – Respirable Crystalline Silica (2020) — On February 4, 2020, OSHA issued a Directive (CPL 03-00-023) for the implementation of a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to identify and reduce or eliminate worker exposures to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) in general industry, maritime, and construction. This instruction targeted specific industries expected to have the highest exposure to RCS, and focused on the enforcement of the new RCS Standards, 29 CFR § 1910.1053 and 29 CFR § 1926.1153, which became active on June 23, 2016.
