OSHA National Emphasis Program – Respirable Crystalline Silica

On February 4, 2020, OSHA issued a Directive (CPL 03-00-023) for the implementation of a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to identify and reduce or eliminate worker exposures to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) in general industry, maritime, and construction.

This instruction targets specific industries that are expected to have the highest exposure to RCS. It also focuses on the enforcement of the new RCS Standards, 29 CFR § 1910.1053 and 29 CFR § 1926.1153, which became active on June 23, 2016.
